I believe in high-quality, flexible, innovative, and affordable education. I think it’s time to be done with the rigid, formal, and overpriced concept that has been the norm for so long.
I chose UMass Lowell for my undergraduate education because it is an innovative, entrepreneurial school that provides a great education at a fair price. The last five years have been a period of tremendous excitement with no signs of a slowdown any time soon. The campus looks radically different now than when I got here and the new academic programs have flourished.
And the beautiful thing about a computer science education is that it can be done anywhere, in a lot of different ways. In addition to getting a formal degree at school, I’ve been a part of several phenomenal educational programs by Google and Microsoft and I’ve taken a good deal of courses with Udacity online. In a lot of fields, the line between learning and doing is very thick, but in this discipline it doesn’t really exist.
