Building a New Website

Step 1: Research

Before I start building a new website, I encourage the client answer the following questions. Not only are they essential for me to build a website, but they also help the client understand how the new site is going to fit into their overall business and marketing strategy. If you're looking to start work on your site, take a look at the questions below.

What is the purpose of your site?
To what extent are you bringing your business online?
What content do you want to include online?
How often will you be updating content?
What website features are important to you?

Let's Meet

As useful as email is, it's no replacement for a face-to-face meeting. We'll get together to talk about your online needs and provide consultation on the direction of your online marketing.

Step 2: Gathering Content

To begin working on your site, I'll need some content to work with, both visual and written. If you have none or you're starting from scratch, don't worry; I'll take care of all of it for you. If you're upgrading and existing site or already have some content, we'll figure out a way to optimize it for you new site.

What I'll Need

Theme: Logos, Artwork, and Letterhead
Media: Photos and Videos
Written: About Us, Services, FAQ, etc.
Contact: Email, Phone, Mailing Address

Send content to [email protected] or ask about Dropbox or FTP.

Step 3: Design

Once I have the content, I'll begin the design.

Design Theory

Even site is designed around my design theory. These guidelines have been formulated from years of design and user research, and I take it seriously. Check it out to get a sense of what makes our sites different.

Inspiration

You may already have a design in mind, or want to base it off an existing concept. Maybe you want some features that your competitors use. Just let me know and I'll be sure to incorporate them.

Take Your Time

Your Satisfaction is Guaranteed
The design phase has no time limits and no extra cost. If you don't like the design, we'll go back to the drawing board. We'll spend as much time as we need to make sure your design is a perfect representation of your business.

Step 4: Testing

After the design is agreed upon, we'll do the following testing:

The 'You' Test: What do you think? Are you satisfied?
User Testing: What do other users think? How do they interact with the site?
Browser Testing: Does the site appear the same on all browsers? Is Intenet Explorer acting up (again)?
Screen Testing: Does the site adapt to all screens? How does it look on a phone?
