Apple TV UI Concept (Update)

Update: renderings on a piece of Apple TV / iTV concept hardware by Martin Hajek below

Here’s a concept I’ve been working on for an Apple TV User Interface. And yes I know, it’s a Samsung TV so it can’t be a “real” Apple TV / iTV concept– but unfortunately I just lack the skill for hardware.

So here it is in all its glory– taking cues from the new iOS while offering a market of third party apps, video chat, Siri, etc. Let me know what you think!

Not a fan of the Siri screen. It should either fill the entire screen or take up a smaller portion.

Siri must not be in the way. Should only take a small part, for example on the right of the screen And the command And changes must be applied in real Time on the display part

Why would Skype be on AppleTV?

Assuming the hardware came with a webcam (which is likely if Apple were to create a physical TV) and they used the same App Store model that exists on the iOS devices, there’s no reason that Skype wouldn’t be on it.

This is sweet! Great work. I’ve never owned an Apple TV but would consider buying one if the UI was this appealing.

Interesting stuff and a logical step as well. As former CD for Global Marketing at Netflix I can tell you first hand that, in the Steve Jobs era, this would never happen. We ultimately decided it would be better to be on the box in b/w than not on at all. Apple, at least then, was all about minimizing partner brands. They may have moved on this under Cook. Still, good exploration.

Attractive, but still looks very similar to my Google TV.

Very cool, I normally don’t like redesigns but I am a huge Apple TV fan and am always making mental critiques of the UI/UX in my head.

Really liked your changes I really think it is time to scratch everything and start fresh!

This makes no sense at all, why would the tv be curved? It would make the watching experience awful because of the distortion and the viewer would have to sit exactly in front of the tv. Why not make a tv a cylinder so it can stand in the middle of the room.
